Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all have a peaceful and joyus holiday weekend! I am enjoying my first Christmas with the Lab Crew! I got some great presents (Milkbones and a kong) and I am having great fun playing with my foster sisters. Santa even came to our house and left us each a new collar! I was very lucky this year! Here is a picture of me by the tree, I was going to sit, but I really wanted a belly rub...what can I say, I'm a silly girl! You can't help but laugh when you're around me!

My foster mom says I am coming along with learning my manners. I'm glad about that, because on New Year's Day, a family is coming to meet me! I hope they like me! I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I've learned "sit" and I know that when my foster mom whistles that I come running! I still enjoy jumping on the counter and people when I get too excited, but I'm trying to remember not to do that :)

I think I'm going to go lay on my dog bed with my foster sisters and mom and watch Frosty the Snowman. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

Love,

Kaylee

Silly Kaylee

Hey There!

I am really starting to settle in here with the Lab Crew. I need to work on my manners, but my foster mom is always telling people how smart I am and that I learn very quickly! I am eager to please and LOVE getting treats like carrots and milkbones.

As you can see by my picture, I am quite a goofy girl! I love to smile and play, especially now that I am in such a great place! I have so much fun playing with my k9 foster sisters. We like to play tag, chase, tug-0-war and hide-and-seek.

My name is Kaylee, but my foster mom calls me "Snuggle Bunny" because I am always trying to snuggle and cuddle with her. I really enjoy having my ears rubbed and of course, belly rubs are a must!

I am looking for my very own family to share the holidays with. Could you be the right family for me? If you are, contact Lab Rescue of North Carolina to fill out an adoption application today! Check back soon to find out more about me!
XOXO,
Kaylee

Quinn's Forever Family

I am SO excited, I've found my forever family!

Quinn's New Friend

Hey there Ladies and Gents!

This week has been fabulous, how was your week?
It has been a little crazy around the Lab Crew this week, because on Tuesday, my foster mom found a young lab wandering on the highway and picked her up so she wouldn't get hit by a car! She brought her home and has been trying really hard to find her owners, but with no luck. My new foster sister Stella doesn't mind though, because she knows our foster mom will find her a wonderful forever home. Stella is super fun to play with! She and I really enjoy chasing the ball together and wrestling outside in the yard. It has been fun to have another friend! Here is a picture of my new buddy! We kind of look alike, don't we?

It has been raining a lot lately, so we have been enjoying some indoor fun. When it is too rainy to go for a walk, I really enjoy walking on the treadmill! It helps me keep my handsome physique.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Talk to you soon!

Quinn's Relaxing Week

Hey There!

It has been a very relaxing week here with the Lab Crew! It has been pretty hot outside, and we've had a lot of rain, so my foster siblings and I have been enjoying lounging around inside.

My new foster brother Carter has been doing well. He is really starting to get the hang of living in the house. He is still pretty nervous, but he tries to watch all of us for cues on what do do and now to act. Hopefully he'll start feeling more comfortable soon, then he can start looking for his forever home, just like me! Here is a picture of him, isn't he a handsome fella?

My foster sister Mady is taking a beginner obedience course. She is teaching me all the new things she learns! I have been working hard on everything, so hopefully I'll be the smartest boy ever!

Well, today it is actually sunny out! So I really want to enjoy some time outside, working in the yard with mom. Talk to you soon!

Quinn's New Foster Brother

Hi There Folks!
I have been having a great time this past week! We have a new foster dog in the house, and its a boy, I have a brother!

My new foster brother's name is Carter. Carter is a 3 year old yellow lab. Carter won't be up for adoption for awhile, because my foster mom (and Lab Rescue) wants him to gain some more confidence and comfort in living with a family. Carter must have had some bad stuff happen to him, because he is very afraid of loud noises and fast movement. I am trying to teach him that living with the Lab Crew is a great place to be! He is starting to come out of his shell a bit, so I'm so excited! I'll try to put up a picture of him soon!

Last week we had a visitor! Our friend Wilson came to hang out with us while his parents were out of town. Wilson is a 5 month old yellow lab puppy. He and I had a great time chasing each other around! What a cutie! Doesn't he look adorable?

I've also been working on my own doggy manners! My foster mom is really impressed with how hard I've been working! As a reward, my mom took me to doggy day camp. It was AWESOME! I got to play with lots of new people and k9 friends!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Quinn's Return to Lab Crew

Hi Folks!

So, as many of you read, I got adopted last week. However, today, I made my return to Lab Crew!

The family who adopted me decided that they may have "rushed" into adopting a dog, and didn't know if they were up to the energy a young lab brings into a home. During my short stay in their home, I learned a lot! But I realize that I still have many tricks to learn, so I will continue working on them with the Lab Crew! Hopefully if you stop by to see me, I'll be able to show you everything I know!

My foster mom is really excited to have me back with the Lab Crew, so were my foster sisters, Cooper and Mady, as well as my NEW LRNC foster brother, who I will tell you all about soon!

I am off to play with my k9 foster siblings, but I hope you'll check back soon!
Love,
Quinn

Quinn's Forever Family

Hi Folks!

So, I have big news...

I GOT ADOPTED!! YAY!

Yesterday I had an adoption visit. I was nervous to meet the family, but they like to play ball as much as I do, so we got along great! We visited for awhile and I fell in love with them (and they loved me too!). Now I have my very own forever family, I can't tell you how amazing that feels!

I was a little sad to leave the Lab Crew, but I am so excited to go to my new forever home. Please check back soon to find out about the Lab Crew's new foster dog!

Check ya on the flip side!

Quinn's Vet Visit

Evenin' Folks!

I went to the vet today, just for a check-up. I am healthy as a "horse" as they say! I do have a bit of dry skin, but the great news is: I have gained 14 pounds since I moved in with the Lab Crew!! I am now up to 72 pounds! When I came here, I was so skinny, you could see my ribs, backbone and hip bones...but not anymore! I am one handsome fella!

My foster sister Mady got spayed today also. She is very sleepy tonight and my foster mom is letting her rest in the other room. I hope she is feeling better soon, because she and I love to play together!

I am very excited! On Saturday, I am going to meet a nice family! They are interested in possibly becoming my forever family! I am really looking forward to meeting them and seeing if they are the right family for me! I'll keep you posted on how my visit goes!

Love,

Quinn

Quinn's Weekend

Hi Folks!

The Lab Crew had a fantastic weekend! Did you?

Today was bath day, of course, and I am really getting over my fear of water! Bath day is also cleaning day for the Lab Crew, so I helped my foster mom by dusting the coffee table with my tail!

This morning on our walk, I saw my first cat. I wasn't really sure what to think (neither was my foster mom, she is not a big cat fan!), I just stood, staring at the cat and watching its every move. Apparently, the cat wasn't a fan of me, because it ran away. Cats are perplexing creatures I decided!

I have been really busy eating and trying to gain weight since I moved in! My foster mom thinks I look fabulous! I have to go to the vet on Tuesday, so I'll have to report back on how much I weigh now! On Tuesday, my foster sister, Mady, is getting spayed. She is finally old enough! I told her not to be scared, that they doctors would be very nice to her.

I hope you had a great weekend! I'll check back in with you after my vet appointment!

Love,
Quinn

Quinn's Favorite Game

Hello!

It has been a busy week for the Lab Crew! We are looking forward to the weekend!

From my recent poll, some of you wanted to know about my favorite game. I really love any game that involves running! Chase, Tag, Keep Away or retrieving the ball! I really enjoy running and playing with my foster mom or my foster sisters!

I've been working really hard on learning a new command, "down". When my foster mom asks me to "lie down", she is asking me to lay on my tummy. I'm getting pretty good at it! I've also been doing really well with my jumping. When I first moved in, I jumped up on people when I got excited, I also jumped up so I could counter surf. But I don't really do those things anymore, because I know it isn't polite!

I'm off to play some tag with my sisters now. I'll check ya later!

Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th of July!

I'm not quite sure what to think of the fireworks and sparklers, but I do want to take the time to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th!

I also want to take the time to thank the men and women who have served, or are serving this great country we live in! Here is a link, feel free to check it out. It is a video clip of a friend of my foster family, who was on the Today Show. He is a former US Marine, who is a true hero. I sure do look up to people like him! Even though I'm a dog, I hope that I can make a difference in someones life, just like he did! Check out his story!

Injured Marine turns tragedy into triumph July 3: After being injured by a roadside while serving in Iraq, Marine Sgt. Keith Zeier overcomes all odds and embarks on a 100-mile race. NBC News' Kerry Sanders reports. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/31724924#31724924

My foster family and I are just enjoying spending time together today. We played ball and grilled some hot dogs. I think I would like hot dogs, they sure do smell good, but my foster mom is being very careful and hasn't dropped any for me to eat! Ugh! Oh well, maybe next year :) Wishing you all a wonderful 4th!

Quinn's Favorites

Hi Friends!

From my recent poll, I see that some of you would like to know more about my favorite toy and my favorite place!

My favorite toy:

I LOVE my kongs! I have one regular kong and I have one squeaky kong. I love them both equally! My favorite treat to have in my regular kong is peanut butter (frozen). What a yummy treat!

My favorite place:

My favorite place in the whole wide world is right next to my human companions. Wherever my human companions go, I like to go. In the evenings, I enjoy laying in my dog bed, in CLOSE proximity to my foster mom, while we watch Dog Whisperer.

I hope you enjoyed this small insight to some of my favorite things! :) Tomorrow is 4th of July, and I am very much looking forward to celebrating with my foster family!

Quinn's Foster "YaYa"

Hi Y'all!

The Lab Crew is having a great week! My foster YaYa is here, visiting from Wisconsin! It has been so much fun meeting and getting to know her! She was surprised with how many kisses I gave her! :) She also liked how polite I was and that I held open the door for her, ladies first after all! What can I say, I'm a southern gentleman!

The 4th of July is just a few days away, and I am so excited to celebrate with my foster family. Do you have any plans?

Check ya later!

Quinn and Landscaping

Hi Friends!

I had a fabulous day, did you?

Today we did the usual, yard work, pool party and bath day for the Lab Crew. It was gorgeous outside, and I even had fun with the water! I have built up enough courage to put my feet in the water! Yay! I'm still not so sure about laying in the water, but my foster sisters keep telling me how great it is, so we'll see! Here I am cooling off with Mady.

I also helped my mom with some landscaping today. She had this big flower pot and she couldn't decide what to put in it, so I briefly tried to put myself in it, to give her some ideas. I thought I was being helpful, she thought I was being silly. :) I helped pull weeds in the garden too, I am a man with many talents!
I am starting to really like baths! I love being all clean and smelling good. I think it makes me look even more handsome (hard to imagine that being possibly, considering how handsome I was to begin with!).

Only two more days until my foster "YaYa" comes from Wisconsin! So excited! I wonder if she'll spoil me, as much as she spoils Cooper and Mady? :)

Quinn's Cousins

Hello!

Happy Saturday!

We had a great day today! We had a play date with my fur cousins, Kirby and Lucy and my aunt Shannon! It was so much fun!! It was a gorgeous day and we got to run and play outside. I found out that I LOVE squeaky toys!! They are a lot of fun to throw around and chase! Here is picture of my foster sisters, Cooper and Mady and myself holding on to the same squeaky toy. This is a great picture, because it shows how close I am to my sisters, literally and figuratively!

I am really loving life lately! Before I came to the Lab Crew, I wasn't allowed to be a dog, and enjoy life. But now, I LOVE life! I love that I feel safe and can play all day! I can't wait to meet my forever family and share my enjoyment of life with them!

I am very excited, because next week my foster "YaYa" is coming to visit from Wisconsin! I can't wait to meet her!

Keep it cool!

Quinn's Friends

Good Evening Folks!

I have been having a great week! The weather has been nice, and I am hoping it stays that way so I can head to the beach this weekend!

My k9 foster sisters Mady, Cooper and I have been having so much fun together! We love to wrestle and play tag! We also love to play keep away and tug-o-war! My foster mom thinks it would be a great idea for me to be adopted by someone who has kids or other dogs (or both!). I really enjoy my human and k9 companionship! I just haven't met a dog or human that I don't like! Everyone is my friend!

This morning I willingly went in my crate when I knew my foster mom was ready to leave for work. She always goes into the "dog room", to pick up her car keys, then I know it is time for her to leave. I am always sad to see her leave, but I know she'll be home soon. Plus, she always leaves me fun treats to eat while she is away. Today I got peanut butter in my kong (that she froze overnight). Yum!

Alright, well I am going to head out to play with the "chuck it" with mom, Cooper and Mady. I hope y'all are having a great week! Talk to you soon!

Happy Father's Day!

Hi!

Just wanted to take the time to wish all the great fathers out there a Happy Father's Day!! I hope you enjoy your day!

Today is yard work day. I LOVE yard work day!! I love being outside with my family and helping out.

I decided last night that I am not really opposed to being in my crate now. When I first came, I didn't really like my crate because I just wanted to be near my foster family. Now I realize, that just because I'm in the crate, doesn't mean they aren't coming back! They always come back, and when we are together, we have a great time! I am so glad that I am becoming more comfortable, so that when my forever family comes, they can see what a great dog I am!

Remember to honor the "dad" in your life! Today I will be thinking about my foster grandpa! I even sent him a card all the way to Wisconsin!

Enjoy your day!

Quinn's Heat Wave!

Hey there!

How are you doing today? I am doing pretty well...though it is SCORCHING hot here! Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but it is pretty warm! When it is so hot out, I prefer to take my walks in the morning or evening. Other than that, I like to stay inside and relax! Here is a picture of me relaxing on my dog bed, after our walk this morning.

I had another great week here at The Lab Crew. I am continuing to learn my manners and my foster mom says I am such a great guy! If you are reading my blog, feel free to stop over to the Lab Rescue site and fill out an adoption application for me. After all, as much as I love it here with The Lab Crew, I am looking for my very own forever home!

I thought I overheard my mom say she might make some doggy ice cream, I'm going to go check that rumor out. I don't want Cooper and Mady to eat it all before I get there! I'll check in with you soon!

Love,

Quinn

Quinn's Kong

Hi There!

My week is off to a great start! Last night we had a dinner date with my k9 cousins, Kirby and Lucy! Here is a picture of them with my little sister Cooper, aren't they cute!?! Kirby, Lucy, Mady, Cooper and I had an awesome time playing together! I was a little shy at first, but then I was ready to play! Thanks for coming over friends! After our dinner date, our family watched one of our favorite shows, Deadliest Catch! I don't really like water (except to drink it), but Cooper and Mady do, I bet they would love life on a crab boat!

So I have to tell you about my new FAVORITE thing! PEANUT BUTTER!!!! Is it not the best thing ever?? I mean seriously it is delicious stuff! My favorite special treat is when my foster mom puts peanut butter in my kong and then freezes it in the freezer overnight. Then, the next day, I have a yummy chilled treat to work on all day long! It is the BEST!

My mom keeps telling me what a gentleman I am. I sure hope my forever family thinks I am too! Wherever you are forever family, I hope I get to meet you soon!

Love,

Quinn

Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Happy Flag Day!

Another great day here at The Lab Crew!

Today we had a pool party. I'm still not too sure about the whole water thing, but I'm not as nervous as I was a few weeks ago. I like to drink out of the pool, but I haven't been able to make myself get in yet! Pool party day also means bath day for The Lab Crew. I stood like a gentleman for my bath. We also got brushed, ears cleaned AND our teeth brushed! I hate to sound vain, but MAN do I look GOOD!

This morning on my walk I learned a new command, "wait". My mom tells me to "wait" before we cross the street. It is important to look both ways you know!

Well I hope you had a great Flag Day! Hope to see you soon!

Check ya later!

Quinn's Dog Sofa

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen!

I had a great Saturday! Did you?

Our family had another busy day working around the house. We cleaned and did some touch-up painting. Luckily because I wag my tail so much, I am a big help with dusting the coffee table!
Today I got to meet my Aunt Shannon and Uncle Chris! They are awesome! My Uncle Chris is in the USMC and my Aunt Shannon is a teacher. They have two small fur children named Kirby and Lucy. I hope I get to meet them soon too! We had to postpone our playdate because of the thunderstorms. :( I was bummed that I didn't get to meet my cousins, but I do love thunderstorms! That means we can watch movies and snuggle on the couch together!
My Aunt Shannon and Uncle Chris brought over their old sofa so we could put it in our "dog room". Someday when I show my mom how responsible I can be, I will be able to stay in the dog room instead of my crate. We have a "dog sofa" now! How cool is that?
Love,

Quinn

Quinn's new tricks

Good Evening Folks!

Things have been crazy busy this week! Our family has been busy, working outside in the yard and getting ready for summer vacation!

I am continuing to learn so much here in my foster home! I have really mastered the "sit" command, and I also know "go outside". I am not counter surfing anymore either!! I am showing my retriever skills off every chance I get too! I can't wait to show off my new tricks to my forever family! I hope they are coming soon!

So after my birthday party, and meeting our awesome neighbors, I decided to go visit them! Only, my mom wasn't too happy with that, because to go visit the neighbors, I had to jump over our four foot fence. I stood on a tree stump and went up and over. I should be a gymnast, I am very agile! Anyway, my mom thinks it would be best if my forever family had a six foot fence or an invisible fence. I am a very tall boy, so I guess she just wants me to be safe! She did tell me that I had to ask permission to go see the neighbors from now on, so I am going to try to remember that!

This weekend we are going to have a doggy play date. I'll let you know how it goes!

Peace,

Quinn

Happy 2nd Birthday Quinn!

Hi!
So, today we celebrated my birthday! We aren't really sure when my real birthday is, but my foster mom says everyone deserves a birthday party! :) I was so excited!
I got some pretty cool presents for my birthday. My mom got me a new water bowl, one with a big jug, so it continuously fills with water!!! You know how much I LOVE drinking water!!! I also got a new collar. It has stars and stripes on it. I am so ready for Fourth of July now! Yay! I also got some chewies and a new stuffed toy. All in all, it was awesome! I wish I could have a birthday everyday!

For my birthday party we had some of our human neighbors over. I was very excited because they have two small children. I LOVE children!! I am very patient with them, but I do love to give them lots of kisses...I think they mostly liked that :) We had cake (here is a picture of our human cake, us dogs got special dog ice cream!) and it was so delicious! What a great day!

This week I am really looking forward to being a big 2 year old! Talk to you soon!

Quinn Goes to the Vet

Good Evening Folks!

It has been a great week, I can't believe the weekend is already here! Today I went to the vet. I thought I was going to be nervous, but I wasn't! I was a big hit at the vet! The vet techs swooned over me. I mean, I knew I was a ladies man, but wow! The vet actually said that I was a "fine specimen". Whoa! I told him he had to stop, otherwise me ego wouldn't be able to get out the door! :) I got a clean bill of health. I've been able to gain a little weight since I came into the rescue, but could stand to gain a bit more. Oh, what a great visit!

My mom was really proud, because I learned the "sit" command. I love making my mom so happy, so I am excited to learn more tricks soon!

Well, I am off for movie night with my mom and sisters. They let me choose, so of course I chose "Marley and Me". Hope everyone has a GREAT Friday night! Talk to you soon!

Love,

Quinn

P.S. Tomorrow is my birthday! Well, we don't really know when my real birthday is, but tomorrow is the day we chose! Check back soon for an update on my birthday celebration. Come on the BIG 2 years old! :)

Quinn and the crate...

Good Evening Folks!

I was deep in thought today and just had to share. I do not like my crate! I just really want to be near my foster mom or my foster sisters. Is that such a bad thing?

Another dilemma I had today: I love to drink water. I love to give hugs to my foster mom. When she comes home from work, how do I decide what to do first?? It is SO hard! If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

On Friday I have to go to the vet, I'm not super excited, but it will be interesting to get up on the scale. I was a little scrawny when I came into Lab Rescue, but I've been working out (hopefully all my lady friends will notice!). I'll keep you posted!

Peace!

Quinn at Topsail Beach

Hi Friends!

Today I had a GREAT day! This morning, my foster mom and I went to Topsail Beach. How gorgeous! Now, I will say, the water is a little chilly for my taste! I prefer to bask in the sun near the beach towel! I do love a ride in the car though!
After the beach, we came back and played with my foster sisters, Cooper and Mady. I am getting really good at retrieving the ball! We also helped mom mow the yard. After all of our hard work, we got to have a pool party!! Cooper and Mady LOVE the water, but I like to keep my distance. Mom did make us have a bath this afternoon, I'm not a huge fan, but I did stand like a gentleman. She even cleaned behind my ears...ugh!

Well, after the busy day I've had, I think I am going to take a nap! I hope you'll check back on me soon! Later this week I'm going to the vet!

Love,

Quinn

Quinn

Hi!

My name is Quinn. My name used to be "Merlin", but I didn't like it very much, so my foster mom gave me the new, cool name! I am a 1 1/2 year old male black lab. I just moved in to my new foster home here in Jacksonville. I LOVE my K9 foster sisters, Cooper and Mady. They have been teaching me a lot since I got here, especially since I've never really been in a house before!

A little about me, I love to run! I love to chase a ball or a frisbee, but I don't really like to bring it back :) I am not fond of baths! I do like to jump, but my foster mom is trying her best to teach me about manners. One cool thing about me, I have freckles on my tongue! I think it makes me extra special!

So far I really like it here. I'll check back in with you soon and give you another update about my new life as part of "The Lab Crew".

Check you later!

Mady

Hi!

My name is Mady. Well, actually, my full name is Madelyn Belle, but I go by Mady. I am six months old. I joined the "Lab Crew" in February 2009. My mom and big sister Cooper, adopted me from Lab Rescue NC. Some of you might be wondering why such a cutie like me, could possibly be in a rescue group for?!? Well, I was rescued from a backyard breeder who was shut down for bad conditions. Luckily, they saved me, my mom (Java) and my brother (Bruin) as well as several other dogs. Boy, were we glad to be safe and warm in LRNC's care!

I am a typical second child. I like to be messy in everything I do. My very favorite thing in the WHOLE world is to roll in the grass. I love it, in fact, I just can't get enough! Like my older sister, I also LOVE the water and I love my food! I love our mom too of course! I'm not a huge fan of chasing the ball, mostly because it is a lot of work and you get hot and sweaty doing that...ewww! I prefer to let the other dogs do the work, then grab the ball out of their mouths. I am pretty sly!

I hope you check in on my foster brothers and sisters. They are all really awesome and I love playing with them! I will be sad to see them go, but excited too, because I know how awesome it is to become part of a family!

Check ya later!

Mady

Cooper

Hi Folks!

My name is Cooper. I am a one year old gal who is the "Lab Crew" original! I was adopted by my mom in September 2008, and boy am I glad she found me!

A little about me, I LOVE these five things: my mom (of course!), the ball, water, eating and last but certainly not least, being a lap dog!! I suffer from a bit of separation anxiety, which is why my mom became involved in volunteering with Lab Rescue. I've had several foster brothers/sisters, and I've loved every single one of them! We are always sad to see them go, but glad they could find a "forever" home, like I found mine!

I hope you enjoy our blog. Check back frequently for more updates on my foster siblings! Remember, life is great as long as you have a ball in your mouth and your never far from water!

Love,
Cooper
